It's more of a blanket than an afghan, actually. To be honest, I am not quite sure what's a different between an afghan and a blanket and I am too lazy to Google the answer. It doesn't matter, really, it's just a name. I am now crocheting with the same enthusiasm I had for painting and drawing atcs once upon a time.

Working On a New Aghan

Afghan - Finished
My little crocheting obsession has resulted in a new afghan. This ripple afghan is a over 110x190 cm or about 43x75 inches big. The yarn is a half wool half acrylic blend. I keep reading that afghans are best made with all acrylic yarns, but I still used one with wool and like it that way.I didn't use a pattern. I learned the stitch from a YouTube tutorial and made each stripe with one whole skein. That turned out practical as I didn't have that many loose ends to weave in.
To keep myself entertained while crocheting I listened to The Hidden Hand and The Wide, Wide World - both beautifully read by Bridget.
It took many hours of work, but it was totally worth it. I love the afghan and I enjoyed the books. It was a great way to use up my spare time this cold winter.

Happy New Year!
I hadn't been around much last year. That might or might not change this year. I am reluctant to make any promises as my creativity tends to depend on my mood. Hopefully, the painting mood will come back to me and I'll be painting and posting more this year.
I've been into crochet lately. I learned to crochet as a kid and I've been making scarfs and hats from time to time. Just for the heck of it I decided to try something different and ended up with this:

It's an afghan that's large enough - 210x210 cm or 82x82 inches - to be a bedspread. I made up the pattern on my own and having never done this before had no idea how it would turn out in the end. Now that it's all finished I can say I am pretty pleased. Not bad for my first ever afghan.
In recent months, I also discovered plarn and learned to make it and crochet with it. It's yarn made of used plastic bags. I had to try it out and here is what I made:

It's a shopping bag. It's durable, strong and surprisingly soft to the touch. It's a great way to recycle plastic bags and I am going to ask people I know to collect used bags instead of throwing them away and make more of these.

Illustration Friday - Germs
The germ in the middle with a grin is the husband. The one the bottom left corner is the angry wife. Bottom right is a curious bystander. You figure out the rest.

Exhausted
I played around with a pencil. Added a few finishing lines with a pen. It's my first drawing in a while, so I thought it deserved a little bit of space here.
